About Trillium

Founded in 2003 by Omar Lalani and his uncle, Trillium Communities is rooted in family and a deep respect for the elderly. Omar’s goal was to provide seniors with the highest standard of care, improving their quality of life and maintaining their independence and dignity at every age. The standard was set: all Trillium homes had to be centrally located with a warm, welcoming and safe atmosphere and a reputation for giving unparalleled, personalized care. And, without exception, all caregivers and staff must share in Trillium’s approach to resident-centred care, respect, collaboration and choice.

Today, true to its roots, Trillium remains a local, family-operated business with locations in Victoria, Colwood, Nanaimo, Shawnigan Lake and Abbottsford, serving 400 seniors in B.C.

Meet Our Senior Management Team

Omar Lalani, President & CEO

From the time he was 12 and tall enough to see over the counter, Omar worked at his family’s stationery store, operating the cash register. He witnessed, firsthand, from his mother’s interactions with her customers what excellent customer service was all about: caring. She knew all of her customers by name and always went above and beyond to accommodate their every request. She taught him the importance of respect, a value instilled in Omar today, and her dedication to quality service has had a lasting effect on Omar and how he operates his business today.

Omar received his Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Victoria in 2002, after which he founded Trillium with his business partner and uncle, a man with 35 years experience in the hospitality industry. They have established a reputation as a warm, welcoming, safe community of seniors homes, offering an unparalleled model of resident-centred care. With the help of his wife, Omar helps cares for over 400 seniors up B.C.’s West Coast.
