JOB DUTIES:

  2. Ensures that orders are correctly processed, recorded and acted on.
  3. Medication Administration to the full scope of practice as stated by the CLPNBC.
  4. Provides emotional support and comfort to clients and their family. The pronouncement of expected death as per the LPN scope of practice as set forth by CLPNBC.
  5. LPN’s will be responsible for coordinating and supervising others who will deliver direct care, such as the Care Aides.
  6. Provides personal care such as assisting clients with bathing, dressing, care of skin and hair, assists with changing beds, toileting and ensuring client exercise programs are carried out as directed.
  7. Documents client care and progress as per CLPNBC standards of documentation
  8. Participates as a member of the interdisciplinary team by assisting in the development, implementation, assessment and evaluation of client care plans.
  9. Making or adjusting resident assignments as required.
  10. Assists in maintaining a physical and psychosocial environment which meets the evolving care of the Residents.
  11. Ensures the proper use and care of equipment used in providing care to the Residents and promptly reports any malfunctions to the DOC/RCM/GM.
  12. Assists in maintaining adequate quantities of nursing care supplies on the floor.
  13. Reports to the DOC/RCM/GM all incidents as outlined in the Community Care Facilities Licensing directive and completes the appropriate paperwork.
  14. To assist in the orientation of new staff and the mentorship of students.

  4. All duties relating to kitchen preparation and clean-up.
  5. Ensures the proper care of equipment used in providing dietary services to residents.
  6. Follows the weekly rotations of menu items and follows the residents care plan.
  7. Ensure that all meals are at the proper temperature and delivered in a timely manner.
  8. The Cook provides dietary/kitchen services in accordance with administrative policies, established standards are, and cleaning principles, and the Residential Care Act.
  9. The Cook observes and reports unsafe/unclean conditions by recognizing what the standards are and reporting it to their supervisor.
  10. Provides feedback with respect to developing new efficiencies and practices.
  11. Assists in maintaining a physical environment, which meets the needs of the residents.
  12. Assists in utilizing supplies appropriately.
  13. Maintains a good attendance record according to Company policy.
  14. To replace staff as needed with seniority and phone logs, when manager not present.
  15. Demonstrated ability to work with, motivate, lead and develop front line staff.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Graduation from an approved Food Services Supervisor Course acceptable under Community Care Facilities Licensing.
  2. Current membership in the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management.
  3. Experience working in a residential care and assisted living.
  4. Experience in recruitment, supervision, education and evaluation of staff.
  5. Knowledge of current Nutritional Standards, Residential Care Regulations, Environmental Health and regulatory requirements.
  6. Ability to communicate effectively and maintain good relationships with staff, residents, and families.
  7. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.

RESPONSIBILTIES

As a member of the Leadership Team, ensures that the nutritional needs of residents are met through the delivery of appealing and nutritious therapeutic diets to residents in compliance with accepted Food Service Standards and Legislation for Trillium Communities.  Ensures that housekeeping and laundry services meet required legislated standards and health authority standards.

DUTIES

  1. Establishes and maintains, in conjunction with the Dietitian, standards, policies and procedures for the purchase of food and related supplies, preparation and service of regular therapeutic meals and nourishments, and maintenance of accurate records as required.
  2. Develops, reviews and updates menu rotations in cooperation with the Dietitian.
  3. Evaluates and responds to feedback from Resident and Family Councils and resident care reviews related to food and meal service and documents responses to concerns and complaints as per policy.
  4. Recruits hire orientate, supervises, educates and evaluates sufficient numbers of qualified Food Service, Laundry, Housekeeping staff to meet operational requirements and takes disciplinary action when necessary.
  5. Instructs and supervises staff to maintain high standards of sanitation and safety in the handling, storage, and delivery of food in compliance with Food Safe and Environmental Health requirements.
  6. Ensures the use of safe work practices and compliance with WHMIS and WorkSafe BC regulations and care of equipment.
  7. Arranges orientation of new staff to their duties and the facility Fire Emergency Procedures.
  8. Maintains accurate inventories, records of purchases and submits timely reports as required.
  9. Prepares and submits annual food and supply budgets and identifies equipment and capital requirements to the Executive Director.
  10. Plans, implements and evaluates ongoing training programs for staff and encourages staff to make use of education opportunities.
  11. Promotes positive communication, cooperative working relationships and good public relations within and outside of the facility.
  12. Participates in Leadership Meetings, Occupational Health and Safety, Resident and Family Council Meetings, Labour Relations Committee and provides feedback to other members of the team as necessary.
  13. Hires, trains, directs, and evaluates departmental staff including the completion of regular performance appraisals. Makes recommendations to the Executive Director, when necessary, regarding discipline and termination of departmental staff.
  14. Supports quality improvement philosophy and processes, including the creation projects. Coordinates and keeps documentation regarding staff education for department.
  15. Acts as a partner with external stakeholders – including the Health Authority, CSNM, Licensing and Suppliers.
  16. Consults and collaborates with other site leaders in regards to support services

  • Certificate of Commercial Cooking, Certificate of Apprenticeship or equivalent or a minimum of 2 years cooking in a restaurant or care home.
  • Completion of Food Safe Course Levels 1 and 2.
  • Current Criminal Record Check.

DUTIES:

  1. Under the direction of a Support Service Manager, prepares and cooks resident meals, nourishments and snacks according to the Canada Food Guide and facility standards
  2. Provide dietary/kitchen services in accordance with operational policies, standards.
  3. Food preparation as per job routine and Support Service Managers request.
  4. All duties relating to kitchen preparation and clean-up.
  5. Ensures the proper care of equipment used in providing dietary services to residents.
  6. Follows the weekly rotations of menu items and follows the residents care plan.
  7. Ensure that all meals are at the proper temperature and delivered in a timely manner.
  8. The Cook provides dietary/kitchen services in accordance with administrative policies, established standards are, and cleaning principles, and the Residential Care Act.
  9. The Cook observes and reports unsafe/unclean conditions by recognizing what the standards are and reporting it to their supervisor.
  10. Provides feedback with respect to developing new efficiencies and practices.
  11. Assists in maintaining a physical environment, which meets the needs of the residents.
  12. Assists in utilizing supplies appropriately.
  13. Maintains a good attendance record according to Company policy.
  14. To replace staff as needed with seniority and phone logs, when manager not present.
  15. Demonstrated ability to work with, motivate, lead and develop frontline staff.
  16. Maintains currency related to directives/memos/policies within facilities.
  17. Participates in activities related to the infection control.
  18. Knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights and endeavours to respect and promote it.
  19. Ensures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted.
